Welcome to Summer 2025! As we transition to the new term, we would like to share a few details about your new Moodle site and the learning tools many of you use.
As we have shared already, last week brought an upgrade to your Moodle site to version 4.5. For a detailed overview of the updates included in the upgrade, please check out the Faculty Support Updates page (opens in new tab) on our website. There you can find information on new and updated tools, including:
- The "Edit mode" toggle
- The new default text editor, TinyMCE
- The new Workday Preferences block, replacing the Course Preferences block (also see GROK 20661 (opens in new tab) )
- A new process adding for LTI External Tools (also see GROK 20058 (opens in new tab) )
- Updated Panopto tools, including Panopto Student Submission (also see GROK 20431 (opens in new tab) )
- A new ProctorU LTI (also see GROK 20432 (opens in new tab) )
This summer, we will continue to work on bug fixes and Moodle integrations for the new Workday Student registration system. At this time, Team Teaching and Add/Drop Tracking are not yet available for setup in Moodle, but they will be available in the near future. Please check our Known Issues page (opens in new tab) for information on problems with current tools and other changes due to the transition to Workday Student.
We encourage you to explore these new and updated features in Moodle. Academic technology support is always available should you have any questions or need assistance. The Faculty Technology Center (FTC) provides Moodle support, consultations, and innovative solutions to faculty and graduate teaching assistants tailored to their individual teaching. Services include workshops and webinars, customized workshops by request, one-on-one consultations, and virtual assistance. Contact the FTC by:

- Attending FTC virtual walk-in hours (opens in new tab) between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Thank you all for giving us an opportunity to serve the LSU community. Have a great semester!
