Accessibility Compliance for Moodle

March 17, 2026

LSU is committed to ensuring that Moodle is accessible to all users. The LSU Academic Technology team regularly evaluates the platform for accessibility barriers and implements customizations and improvements to address issues as they are identified. These efforts are ongoing and will continue as new needs and standards emerge.

Despite significant work to align Moodle with updated accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 Levels AA, some accessibility concerns may remain related to the Snap theme in Moodle. The most recent accessibility compliance document for this theme is from 2022, which identified issues in the theme at that time. While work is now being done to update this document, the current status of all potential accessibility concerns in the theme cannot be fully verified. When limitations are identified, the LSU Academic Technology team works to quickly remediate the issue.

To further improve accessibility and the overall user experience, LSU is planning a transition to a new Moodle theme beginning in Summer 2027 with a focus on improved compatibility, usability, and accessibility.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to report any Moodle accessibility concerns or barriers to the ITS Service Desk:

The Academic Technology team remains committed to supporting all users and providing appropriate assistance and accommodations as needed.
