The LSU Academic Technology team is working with the Office of the University Registrar to preserve Moodle course and user data for students who received incomplete grades (I-grades) in 2026 Spring and Summer courses and have continued working after May 20.
We have identified 2026 Spring, Spring 1, Spring 2, and Summer 1 courses that include students with incomplete grades. After we have backed up and restored all summer courses to our new Moodle server, we will begin manually backing up data for those identified 2026 Spring, Spring 1, and Spring 2 courses with I-grades.
These backup files will be moved to the new server, but they will not be restored into a Moodle course shell.
How to check if your course file was moved to the new Moodle server?
Instructors can check the Simple Restore block in Moodle to see whether a course with an I-grade student appears in the list. If the course is listed, the file was successfully moved.
If a course backup file does not appear in the Simple Restore block, please check again after Labor Day before contacting the FTC. Because these files must be backed up and moved manually, the process will take considerable time.
What to do if one of your students needs to continue working on an I-grade?
Please note that the Simple Restore block does not restore the user data contained in the backup file, which includes student submissions and grades. If an incomplete student needs to resume work and you need the course restored with user data, please contact the FTC.
2026 Summer and Summer 2 I-grades
2026 Summer, Summer 1, and Summer 2 courses will be restored to the Moodle site. Students in summer term courses with incomplete grades may resume working as soon as their course appears in Moodle.
